Computed tomographic findings in 35 dogs with nasal aspergillosis.

چکیده
The purpose of this study was to describe the computed tomographic (CT) features of nasal aspergillosis in dogs. Initial (n = 35) and follow-up (n = 12) CT images were available from 35 dogs. The most commonly encountered CT findings were (1) moderate to severe cavitary destruction of the turbinates with presence of a variable amount of abnormal soft tissue in the nasal passages, (2) non-specific thickening of the mucosa adjacent to the inner surface of bones of the frontal sinus, maxillary recess and nasal cavity and, (3) thickened reactive bone. The findings were consistent with a disease initially affecting one nasal cavity then progressing into the ipsilateral frontal sinus, the contralateral nasal cavity and the contralateral frontal sinus. Two dogs with associated nasal foreign body had a more localized invasion of the nasal cavity. Attenuation values and contrast enhancement were not specific. With follow-up examinations, a reduction in the amount of abnormal soft tissue was observed in all dogs except one, but this reduction could not be quantified.

Comparison of computed tomographic and cytological results in evaluation of normal prostate, prostatitis and benign prostatic hyperplasia in dogs
Prostate gland can be structurally evaluated by computed tomography (CT) with taking advantages of tomographic feature and post-contrast parenchymal changes. The current examination initiated to determine association between computed tomographic and cytological results in evaluation of canine prostate. Thirty mature male dogs were included and under gone by both CT and fine needle sampling of p...

OBJECTIVES To determine the value of low-field magnetic resonance imaging in differentiating sino-nasal aspergillosis from lymphoplasmacytic rhinitis in dogs. On magnetic resonance imaging, turbinat...
متن کاملComputed tomographic features of feline sino-nasal and sino-orbital aspergillosis.
Feline upper respiratory tract aspergillosis (URTA) occurs as two distinct anatomical forms, namely, sino-nasal aspergillosis (SNA) and sino-orbital aspergillosis (SOA). An emerging pathogen, Aspergillus felis, is frequently involved. The pathogenesis of URTA, in particular the relationship between the infecting isolate and outcome, is poorly understood. In this study, computed tomography was u...
متن کاملCanine Sinonasal Aspergillosis
Aspergillus fumigatus is a ubiquitous soil saphrophyte, and a cause of chronic rhinitis in dogs. Infection of the nasal cavity may develop following inhalation of a large number of fungal spores. The disease spreads throughout the nasal cavity and often extends into the frontal sinuses. Rarely, infection disseminates throughout the body. Sinonasal aspergillosis most often affects young to middl...
